 2011 Ghost Stories

In recent weeks it has come to my attention that certain parties are using my ghost stories and those of my contributors as references for their own commercial enterprises.  If you or someone you know is writing a book on ghosts in the Pacific Northwest, PLEASE DO NOT!!! copy or use the following stories or any other materials within this website as references.

Dear Mr. Davis

Sorry to bother you again but if you didn’t get  my earlier email my name is Carter  I am a 7th grader and a amateur paranormal investigator i have read three of your books which are some of my favorite books.   I have read which are Weird Oregon Weird Washington and ghosts critters and sacred places of Oregon and Washington 3.  And this is not for a report but for curiosity what, are some of your tips for ghost hunting?  Have you ever investigated anywhere in Tigard or Beaverton Oregon that I should check out with my friend who likes paranormal things or subjects.  I have been to one haunted place a lot of the haunted mcmeenimens or how ever you spell that so please Write me back hope you have a great day.

Hello Carter,

Sorry it has taken me so long to answer your email.  I hope you forgive me, but I have been very busy lately.

Since you're still a little on the young side, I cannot give you too much advice on going to too many places, out of respect for your parents.   At this point, you should stick to some public places.  I find ghost hunting works well in daylight as well as in the evenings.  Maybe better sometimes.  I recommend against going to graveyards, particularly at night.  Far too many strange (living) people hang out there.

The McMenamins restaurants and hotels are a good place to start visiting. A lot of the hotels, like the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove have ghost log books a the front desk.  People who experience things there write them down at the end of their visit.  See if there is a paranormal group in the Beaverton area that you like.  I have several links to groups on my website.  Look at the group, see if they welcome younger investigators, and get your parents’ permission to visit them.  That might be the best thing to do at this point.

And keep reading.
Best wishes,
Jeff Davis

It's okay Mr. Davis thank you for writing back to me. your books are my favorites because of how short the stories are and they have really given me a quick escape through my parents’ divorce.  I hope you come out with a new book soon. Another thing I like about your books is the history behind some of the ghosts or legends.  My teacher makes fun of me for all the odd facts about Oregon i know and calls me Bing man because once he says something about local history it goes into how mount angel has the biggest hairball at 2.5 pounds.  My grandma also likes your books when we go on road trips we always go to the places that are haunted well thank you for your response Mr. Davis hope you have a good day.

SUBJECT:  Aberrations

Hello,
Found your writings about paranormal & ghost sightings, etc.  I have been seeing aberrations for nearly 2 years since my grandson was born. He has a tremendous spirit surrounding him. I've seen 1 several times & 1 other just once. I am always slightly fearful when they appear but surrender to their presence & usually sleep well soon afterwards.

I am interested in anything else you may know or could share.

Hello again,
I was reading your ghost stories last evening after doing research on abberations. It was late & I didn't have my reading glasses on. I just read & re-looked at your site-what I discovered is unbelievable! My grandson mentioned in the last email is part Alaskan native & part Italian. I am totally stoked about the night visions I've had since he was born now. I hope you've received my emails!

Giovanni’s Daughter

Hello Giovanni's Daughter

Thanks for your emails.  Sorry I did not respond sooner.  I have become  notorious for answering emails late.  About your visions.  You said they began when your grandson was born.  Did anything else happen around the same time?  A family death, injury, sickness?  Anything else?  It could be that his birth any any other serious event could have released a latent ability you had.  Or it could have attracted a spirit to you and him.

I suggest you start looking at books on psychic ability, to see if what is happening to you falls into this category. Please visit the links in my website, and see if any of the paranormal groups listed there have had experiences like you have experienced.  That might be best.  At least you do not seem to be too frightened by what is happening to you, which is a good sign.

Good luck,
Jeff Davis

Hello Jeff,

A few months before any visions, I had a traumatic end to a relationship that was very special to me. It ended abruptly without closure. This was during the time my daughter had moved back home with me to save money during her pregnancy. We spent a lot of time together as she was high risk and not working. I would speak to the baby through her stomach quite frequently. He is extremely close to me and I to him. We speak without words most often.

Shortly after the first vision I met a unique Native American and had a most remarkable, heartfelt conversation with him over the course of an hour on the streets of Seattle near Pike Place Market. Once he realized I wanted nothing of him, he did energy work around my heart and my hand. I left with his business card in my pocket and actually slept in my jeans that night; business card in place. My 2nd vision occurred this night.

A few months later great public tragedy occurred in this man's family in Seattle. Their lives and tragedy have been played out all over the news for months. I have yet to contact him despite his offer to meet with me and my grandson when I met him over a year ago. I felt he had so much of his own sadness and loss he was dealing with. Some day perhaps........

I will again look at the links on your site. Thank you again for your time and kindness.

Warmly,
Giovanni’s daughter

SUBJECT:  Great talk last night at the Peculiararium

I mentioned to your wife that a location that might be a good place to check out would be the site of the old Portland municipal auditorium. However, I couldn't remember if it was on the site where the Keller presently stands or if it was at a different location. I checked, and it was the old Civic Auditorium which was renovated in 1968 and later renamed the Keller Auditorium.

The original structure was built in 1917.  During the influenza pandemic of 1918 Portland's mortuaries and the city morgue had so many bodies that the basement of the old Civic Auditorium was used as a morgue.  I don't know if there have been any reports of activity there, but it might be a good place to check.

Personally, I'm very skeptical of ghosts, apparitions, etc. Although I do live in a house that was built in 1906 and there will be times when I'm sitting on the couch in the living room and I'll be surrounded by a cold spot. It could be just due to the spotty insulation in the place, but who knows?

SUBJECT:  Orb Pictures

Jeff,

Thought you might like to see these pictures.  From May 30th at the sunset pioneer cemetery in Tigard.  The orbs in 003 and 007 were both in the same area and look like faces when you expand them.

It was my first ghost hunting experiment.  When I first got there during the day to check around, one grave in particular drew me almost directly to it.  I stood looking at it and noticed that the day of this young person’s death was exactly 100 years ago…to the day…(pic #14).  Strange huh?....
