January to February 2007 Ghost Stories

In recent weeks it has come to my attention that certain parties are using my ghost stories and those of my contributors as references for their own commercial enterprises.  If you or someone you know is writing a book on ghosts in the Pacific Northwest, PLEASE DO NOT!!! copy or use the following stories or any other materials within this website as references.

 Rach here (from AGHOST)_ hope you and Jeanine had a wonderful holiday! What do ya think of all the snow and ice? I'm lovin' it, even though it melted all away today.

Just sending you a note that I forgot earlier. Well, months earlier.  I wanted to let you know about the haunt up in Bellingham, Jacci's Fish and Chips. I remembered that she told me in the Spring of 2006 that they haven't had any occurrences since her son laid a piece of carpet down on the lower level of the trolley.

When before, they would hear footsteps upstairs while they were downstairs.  And noises coming from downstairs while they (or herself) were upstairs   She also informed me that she recently purchased a home and apparently it has a resident there that's "unseen". She feels that it was a previous homeowner who passed away in the home but she doesn't feel threatened. She learned upon the purchase of the home through the widow that he passed away there.  Apparently, she has seen a picture of the husband and it was a striking resemblance.  He's appeared to her is what she had revealed to me.  However, she didn't want to let the previous homeowner know because she didn't know how responsive the widow be.

Just a small update.

Subject:  To your book (Rosario Resort)

I work at the Moran Mansion in the San Juan Island chain, and during last summer I was working by myself in the office; the doors and windows were closed and I was just sitting there thinking. I was very sad and felt like I was on the verge of tears, until the hairs on the back of my neck started to stand, and I heard a female’s voice whisper into my ear “She’s going to cry”. That shocked me to turn around thinking; someone could have come in without my knowledge was hard since the door itself makes a noise every time it is open and closed.

Another time, again by myself, I was writing a reservation and the chair started to turn and I tried to keep it still but it kept on turning.

The same day, again, with everything closed, if felt chilly in the room. I was dressed in a summer dress since it was during August. I paced to warm up and had to stop because I felt like I was being held back. The next part was weird, I felt like I stepped from the Antarctic tundra to the Hawaiian beaches all in one breath. And felt if I leaned back an inch or two, I would have felt someone standing there, and the air started to smell like some aftershave like the ocean. Then to my amazement, I rushed towards the door and opened it in time to see a whisk of smoke at eye level then disappear. There is no smoking allowed within the mansion, and I again was the only one on the third floor.

I don’t know if you will take me seriously, but that is all the truth and happening over a two month period, and I still feel someone watching me all the time within the mansion. I don’t care if you use this for your book. But I want to make one thing clear, I do believe only when I can see it or if the events are happening to me. If not then I don’t believe it. Only if I know the resource is reliable; and there are multiple events to reoccur with several different witnesses.

Subject:  Manresa Castle haunting!

Hello, I went to your website and saw all the haunting going on and thought I might share some of mine. So this is how it happened

May of 2003, Manresa Castle, Port Townsend, WA:
My family and I stayed in the Bed & Breakfast hotel, not knowing it was haunted.  We went to a store in the town, my sister, Katie, bought a book. The book was called Haunted Places of Washington".  She skimmed through most of the chapters of the book, when we were back at the hotel, thinking it was all boring. Then her eyes got  really big, "Katie, what's wrong?" I said laughing a little.

She didn't answer, "Uhh, Katie? KATIE!"  I tried getting her attention and I finally did, "What is it?" I asked again. 

"Kierah," She said to me, "Look!". She showed me the book and I was devastated. I didn't know what to think, Manresa Castle was in it.

In the middle of the night, at precisely 2:45 AM, there was a knock at the door.  It was repeatedly knocking, until it stopped. My Dad, Sister, brother, and Mom all didn't notice this. Only I did.  I was scared, I didn't get out of the bed all night.

A few hours after the knocking, tumbling came from the attic! My whole family woke up."What is that?" My brother asked.

"I have no clue," My sister had answered. I was terrified.

The tumbling had stopped and I fell fast asleep. I think I must have fallen asleep out of fear. In the morning, my dads shoe was on top of the chandelier where my mom and I slept. Of course though, we still believe my father did this.

October of 2006 Manresa Castle update:
 A monk supposedly hung himself in the Attic of room 309, which we stayed.  It was the tower.  A lady jumped out the window of room 306 after her husband was reported lost at sea, he never returned. She committed suicide. I cannot recall the names, so I am sorry. Though I know that The lady and her husband owned Manresa Castle in the early 1860's  to  the late 1890's, for they both died.

My sister says she recalls seeing a face in the window of room 306, facing out to sea in old 18th century clothes. From this day on, my sister and I still believe Manresa Castle is, and forever will be, Haunted.

Can't give you any ghostly accounts, jus that we all sat there for a minute-two carloads of people and decided NOT to get out. The grange pictures are taken out the window of our van! I have a good story about a house on 7th Ave Camas, but its long. Let me know if you want to hear it.

Also the employees at the Camas Community Center have been swearing for years that its haunted. They say they hear footsteps out in the halls when know one is there, have the usual door and light problems, and on many occasions people have heard the sound of a music box in the basement, although no music box has ever been found and the basement has been completely cleaned out on several occasions. There is some interesting memorabilia in the place, including a piano that once belonged to a local, that was sold, and there rediscovered years later on a cruise ship. The old owner was able to require the piano and donated it to the community center. It's definitely a music box they hear though not a piano--but the piano story is interesting.

Subject:  Haunting story/advice

 My name is Brittney and I live in Vancouver, WA. Here is my story; I hope you can help!

My boyfriend and I recently moved into an old house that we are renting.  Everything was fine about the first week and a half. Then one night sitting in the front room he saw a small shadow fly across the room and back into the hall. He was convinced it was a ghost.

He told his buddy and had him sleep over on our couch. Our buddy didn’t say he saw or heard anything but said he defiantly wasn’t alone that night. Then last night (about a week after his buddy came over) my boyfriend wasn’t feeling well in the middle of the night and went to relax on the couch so he wouldn’t wake me. He says not five minutes later he high tailed it back in the bedroom. He heard footsteps walking then turning around and doors opening that were already open. He also saw a shadow of a person in our 2^nd bedroom.

I have not seen or heard anything. The odd thing about the “person” being in the second bedroom is that my cat always wants me to follow him in there, I always assume to play but he always stops in the middle of the room and looks up at me like he wants me to see or look at something. The cat doesn’t seem scared or freaked out in any part of the house. One more thing about the house is that it seems to get cold pretty often, not just one room but also the whole house. I thought it was just the old furnace, but not after this. Is there any reason that I have not seen/heard/felt any of this? Could it be a friendly ghost/spirit since my cat is not afraid? Any insight at all would be very helpful. Thank youu
